Winter injury is a particular problem to annual bluegrass (Poa anuna L.)
putting greens in northern climates. Research experiments
(See Tompkins et al.
2175-2179)
at the Prairie Turfgrass Research Centre at Olds, AB, Canada, were conducted
to examine the effects of prolonged periods of freezing temperatures and
ice cover on the predominant putting green grasses, annual bluegrass and
creeping bentgrass.
