Cover: Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) yields are greatly reduced by late planting. Canopy stay green (above left) and seed set in the central portion of the capitulum proved to be associated with adaptation to late planting and appear to be reliable indirect selection criteria for specific adaptation to late planting in sunflower (see de la Vega and Hall, pp. 1191-1201 and 1202-1210).
