Foundations of Yield Improvement in Watermelon

In Crop Sci. 45:141–146 , the first sentence of paragraph three in the introduction section reads "Overall, watermelon yield in the USA has been increasing during the last 4 yr from 24000 Mg ha^–1 in 1998 to 29000 Mg ha^–1 in 2002 (USDA-ARS, 2003)." However, because of an error in the USDA crop yield statistics, the yields should be divided by 1000. Thus, the sentence should read "Overall, watermelon yield in the USA has been increasing during the last 4 yr from 24 Mg ha^–1 in 1998 to 29 Mg ha^–1 in 2002 (USDA-ARS, 2003)."
