Alignment of a previously published cDNA lipoxygenase sequence (LoxA) from barley (van Mechelen et al., 1995) with four genomic lipoxygenase sequences amplified from the durum wheat varieties Jennah Khetifa and Cham 1. Boxed sequence represents coding sequence, and the sequence between the boxed regions is an intron. Shaded sequence corresponds to a Stowaway-type element discovered in the durum wheat sequences J4.2 and C7.1.2, but not in J2.2 and C5.36.2. Shaded sequence in italics is a direct repeat of the second half of the element, located immediately following the complete Stowaway element in C7.1.2 (see Fig. 2).
