The italic markers, on the basis of their relative positions on different sugarcane linkage groups, might have been duplicated loci or might have been different alleles of the same loci on different homologs. This type of markers was referred as repeated loci to distinguish them from those tandemly duplicated loci on a single linkage group. Tandemly duplicated markers were connected by a line to the corresponding sorghum markers, but repeated markers were not connected. Markers on the right side of HGs 2 and 3 were approximately at the same location with the markers on the consensus map they aligned to. Markers mapped on a different sorghum LG were indicated by the sorghum LG in parentheses following the markers.
