A second locus controlling red testa was discovered in a selection of peanuts from East Africa, which originated in Bolivia. Apparently in this locus the allele responsible for red testa is recessive, and it does not behave as a duplicate gene of the known R. There is indirect evidence that a D gene is required for the expression of this new red testa factor. It is not known if any F gene is required.
