Eight isoperoxidases separable by electrophoresis were found in subapical coleoptile sections of oats (Avena sativa L.). Appearance of one isozyme was repressed by auxin applications (IAA or 2,4-D). A second isozyme was induced by similar treatment. Genetic variability for the hormone inducible isozyme was demonstrated. Hormone level was critical to both isozyme repression and induction.
Key Words: Indole-3-acetic acid 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic Coleoptile
