The inheritance of purple-tipped wings in flowers of Korean lespedeza (Lespedeza stipclacea Maxim.) was studied in two crosses. F1, F2, and F3, data indicate that the purple-tipped wing mutant character is conditioned by a single recessive gene pair. The following genetic symbols are proposed: Ptw for the extended, white wing (normal) allele and ptw for the proximate, purple-tipped wing (mutant) allele.
Key Words: Flower wing position Marker gene Mutation Ionizing radiation
