Genetic studies show that C.I. 3034 has a major incompletely recessive gene, pg-ll, for adult plant resistance to race C 10 (6AF) of oat stem rust. Gene pg-H confers a moderate level of resistance that may be enhanced by one or more modifying genes. The presence of the seedling resistance gene Pg-1 in C.I. 3034 is confirmed. There is no close linkage of pg-11 with the seedling resistance genes Pg-2, Pg-3 and Pg-4.
Resistance to race C 10 conferred by pg-11 appears to be closely associated with a yellow-green plant color. Whether the association is due to linkage or to pleiotrophy is unknown.
