S. S. Maan and K. A. Lucken2

A procedure is described by which the following materials and information can be obtalned in a relatively short time (8-10 crop generations): I) a monosomic set of male-sterile Chris in Triticum timopheevi Zhuk. cytoplasm; 2) chromosomal location of male-fertility restoring genes in several R-lines; and 3) substitution of chromosomes carrying male-fertility restoring genes to the genetic background of several common wheat varieties and the development of male-sterile monosomics for the critical chromosomes in these varieties.

Key Words: Triticum • Hybrid Wheat • Cytoplasmic Male Sterility • Monosomic Analysis • Substitution Lines
