Varietal Differences in Internode Number and Length in Ten Varieties of Alfalfa1

In ten common varieties of alfalfa, Medicago sativa L., grown and measured under comparable conditions, varietal differences in internode number and internode length were statistically significant. This technique could be useful in varietal purity testing, genetic studies, and characterization of alfalfa varieties.
