Wild oats, Avena fatua L., with selection-site implications for cold hardiness were screened for winter growth habit, BYDV reaction and maturity. Nine decumbent lines had good cold resistance in freezing tests, and may possess diverse genes needed to develop winter oat varieties with improved winter hardiness.
