Inheritance of Crown-rust Resistance Transferred to Hexaploid Oats from the Diploid C.I. 38151

K. Sadanaga and M. D. Simons2

Inheritance of resistance to crown-rust race 264 of lines of hexaploid oats which possessed resistance of the diploid C.I. 3815 was studied. Data from five segregating populations tested in the seedling stage showed resistance to race 264 to be conditioned by a single dominant gene. One of these populations tested for reaction to race 290 (to which C.I. 3815 is resistant) was fully susceptible. The gene conditioning resistance to race 264 was not associated with the monosome in the monosomic designated M 42.
