Linkage of Resistance to Erysiphe graminis f sp. tritici ( Pm3 ) and Hairy Glume ( Hg ) on Chromosome 1A of Wheat1

The gene Pm3 for resistance to Erysiphe graminis f. sp. tritici, in the wheat variety ‘Indian’, was located on the short arm of Chromosome 1A (XIV), 0.82 crossover units from Hg (hairy glume). This resistance gene is not fully effective until the host plants reach the three to five-leaf stage, whereas what is believed to be an allele from certain other resistant varieties is fully expressed at the first leaf stage. Each of these alleles is dominant to the allele for susceptibility, and each has been transferred separately to the variety ‘Chancellor’.
