The callus surface of Councill triticale (x Triticosecale Wittmack) was observed using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) over a 25-day period during proliferation and differentiation. The technique of observation required limited tissue preparation steps. With its ability to scan large surface areas of the tissue, SEM can be utilized in studying stage or sequence of morphogenetc events in callus cultures.
