A pressure-volume technique using a pressure chamber for measurement of water potential and its components of rice (Oryza sativa L.) leaves is described. Procedures for estimating bound water content and the volumetric moduli of elasticity and for the construction of Hofler diagrams and the relations between turgot potential and total water potential for single leaves are given. The ease of the procedure and the large number of important parameters and relations which are readily inferred recommend the technique for many applications.
Key Words: Oryza sativa L. Water potential Turgor potential Elasticity Drough resistance
