Identification of a Combine-Height Grain Sorghum Dominant for Dw11

W. M. Ross and K. D. Kofoid2

A combine-height sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) selection from SC 102-9 gave tall F1'S when crossed to lines dominant for the height genes Dw2 Dw3 or Dw4. Appropriate test crosses indicated that the line was the first recorded instance of the height genotype Dw1 Dw1 dw2 dw2 dw3 dw3 dw4 dw4. It can be used for genetic studies and for classification of parents for proper use hi either grain or forage sorghum hybrids.

Key Words: Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench • Height genes • Hybrids
