A self-propelled plot combine was modified to facilitate the harvest of hill plots of soybeans (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). The modified combine reduces the amount of labor required by about 50% when compared with a stationary plot thresher.
A conveyor was mounted on the side of the combine to transport the identification tag for each hill from the header to the person bagging the seed. The person bagging sits on a carnage mounted near the seed delivery spout. The seed bag and identification tag are tied together by an air-powered tying machine. A hydrostatic transmission provides the combine with a variable-speed cylinder.
Key Words: Glycine max (L.) Merr. Bag tier Variable-speed cylinder
