Inheritance of Resistance to Anthracnose in Alfalfa1

T. A. Campbell, J. A. Schillinger and C. H. Hanson2

Resistance to anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum trifolii Bain in a cross of susceptible x resistant plants in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was conditioned by a completely dominant gene inherited in a tetrasomic manner. The symbol AR was suggested for the dominant allele and ar for the recessive. S1, F1, F2, F3, and backcross progenies were used in the study.

Key Words: Tetrasonic inheritance • Colletotrichum trifolii Brain • Medicago sativa L.
