The content of liquid water at equilibrium with ice in a frozen cellulose model was evaluated by electrophoretic mobility of indicators, and a method of translating relative moisture data of the type previously obtained from plant tissues to absolute values is presented. Absolute water distribution data are required for coordination with calorimetric data, so that stress energies can be calculated and plant systems capable of modifying stress can be identified.
