Eight sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] maturity genotypes were grown under favorable conditions at Plainview, Texas from a planting on June 6, 1969. Under the 10-hour nights of the summer the genotypes flowered at different times and differed in leaf number and plant size. The maturity genes are known to control time of floral initiation but, in addition, appear to influence rate of growth as measured by leaf size and panicle weight.
Key Words: Floral inhibition Duration of panicle development Growth rate Leaf size Juvenility
