Estimates of general and specific combining ability for grain yield and protein and lysine levels in the grain were obtained by evaluating the performance of 48 Fl sorghum hybrids which were derived from crossing 12 restorer lines unto 4 male sterile testers. Significant differences among restorer lines were found in general combining ability for yield, protein, and lysine while significant differences among the male sterile testers existed for yield and protein. The variation due to specific combining ability was not significant for any of the characters.
