Genetic Linkage in Soybeans: Linkage Group VII¹

The genetic linkage between three loci in soybeans was determined, and established as Linkage Group VII. The loci involved arc Y₁₃, y₁₃ (normal, deficient chlorophyll); 0, o (brown, red-brown seed coat pigmentation); and I, i^l, i^k, i (multiple alleles determining the seed coat pattern of black and brown colors). The combined recombination value between the y₁₃ and o loci was 31.3 ± 1.9%, between the o and i loci 17.8 ± 0.79%, and between the y₁₃ and i loci 41.1 ± 0.9%. The order of genes was shown to be y₁₃ - o - i.
