Genetic Linkage in Soybeans: Linkage Group VII1

Martin G. Weiss2

The genetic linkage between three loci in soybeans was determined, and established as Linkage Group VII. The loci involved arc Y13, y13 (normal, deficient chlorophyll); 0, o (brown, red-brown seed coat pigmentation); and I, il, ik, i (multiple alleles determining the seed coat pattern of black and brown colors). The combined recombination value between the y13 and o loci was 31.3 ± 1.9%, between the o and i loci 17.8 ± 0.79%, and between the y13 and i loci 41.1 ± 0.9%. The order of genes was shown to be y13 - o - i.

Key Words: Recombination value • Linkage intensity • Chlorophyll deficiency • Seed coat color • Seed coat pattern • Glycine max
