Inheritance of Hermaphrodite Pedicelled Spikelets of Sorghum1

A. J. Casady and F. R. Miller2

Progenies of four Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench crosses were studied to determine the inheritance of the hermaphrodite pedicelled spikelet character. The character was found to be controlled by a single pair of alleles, with the hermaphrodite pedicelled spikelet allele (hps) recessive to the non-hermaphrodite pedicelled spikelet allele (Hps).

Key Words: Sorghum genetics • Sorghum spikelets • Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench
