Prediction of Chemical Accumulation in Maize Double-cross Hybrids from Single-cross Data1

W. F. Craig and W. I. Thomas2

Levels of potassium in the stover and the ear and of strontium in the stover of double-cross corn hybrids, Zea mays L., were significantly correlated with the average level of accumulation of single-cross parents. Similar correlations for phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and zinc were not significant.

Key Words: Corn • Strontium • Potassium
