Three distinct electrophoretic patterns in acrylamide gel zymograms are associated with specific soybean varieties. The patterns represent at least two different enzymes, including peroxidase, hut collectively are called "INT-oxidases." The enzymes, extracted from dry soybean seeds, inhibit the reduction of colorless iodonitrotetrazolium-violet (INT) into the red INT-formazan and thus appear as clear bands on a red background.
