Relation of Seed Yield and Fitness in Phaseolus Lunatus L.

C. L. Tucker and Barbara D. Webster2

Three genotypes of lima beans, Phaseolus lunatus L., were yield tested in order to determine whether yielding ability was related to competitive ability. Results indicated no relationship between yielding ability in a pure stand and survival ability in a bulk population.

Key Words: Bulk breeding • Lima beans • Competition
