Wild-type kernels had low inorganic P (low color development). Homozygous mutant kernels had high Pi, producing color. (B) HPLC assay of phytic acid in a single Js-12-WT kernel of wheat and a single Js-12-LPA kernel. Js-12-WT and Js-12-LPA phytic acid P levels were 3.8 and 2.5 mg g1, respectively. Inositol phosphates of lower phosphorylation were not observed.
